Based on the article, Four pro-Hong Kong demonstrators were arrested last Sunday after their attempt at a peaceful protest in Garapan turned violent, sending two to the Commonwealth Health Center. According to a Department of Public Safety statement yesterday, it said that police responded to a “disturbing the peace” incident involving four pro-Hong Kong protesters and two other Chinese individuals across the Saipan Store II near I Love Saipan store in Garapan at about 6:03pm last Sunday. The arrested protesters were Yuan Feng Kung, Ming Li, Xiao Wei Qin, and Yi Qun Jia. The four allegedly beat two other Chinese individuals, one female, and one male, who were allegedly interfering with their attempt at a peaceful protest. Starting today, Saipan residents can avail of COTA’s demand response shared ride and fixed-route services even on Sundays and on all CNMI legal holidays. It is a “call-a-ride service,” a reservation-based, curb-to-curb, and door-to-door service for anyone and anywhere on the island, while the fixed route service is a bus system with a fixed route from the Northern Marianas College to Paseo de Marianas, and back. Digital Media Blog 12/04/2019 Current issues #3 $1.3 million in cash incentives for the teacher is currently on hold.          Base on the article in Saipan tribune the release of $1.3 million in cash incentives for public school teachers is currently on hold because some Board of Education members want that money distributed to more people.  In a board meeting yesterday, BOE members met to discuss the motion to approve the release of $1.3 million that the Retention Incentive Program recently acquired as a monetary incentive for PSS teachers, teacher aides, counselors, librarians, instructors, principals, and vice-principals . However, the board was deadlocked at 22 yesterday on whether the funds should be released. In totals of 200 leaders out of 33 nations and territories in the region participated in the Obama foundation leaders program. Sheila J. Babauta and Samantha Birmingham-Babauta were both selected to participate in the program from Dec. 10, 2019, to Dec. 14, 2019. in the 200 participants, 10 are from Micronesia: Four from Guam, two from the CNMI, one each for Palau and the Federated States of Micronesia, and two for the Republic of Marshall Islands.
